Overview of Department The Division of Operations Planning supports subway and bus service through data collection, ridership analysis, operations analysis (Dashboards and performance indicator analysis), service planning (route planning and schedule development, service diversion planning), track access management, station planning, customer service outreach, and communication.

The Office of the Chief is Responsible for:
This unit acts as the controller for Operations Planning; managing all labor, material procurement, and human resources functions. Further, the unit is also responsible for the development of the Division's operating and capital budgets, expense estimates, resource management, headcount, hiring and promotions, recommended expense strategies, and administration of the Division's contracts. The unit additionally manages all correspondences from elected officials, transit advocacy groups, and customers whose concerns fall under Operations Plannings areas of responsibilities. These inquiries require both internal and external departmental consultations and investigations. Lastly, the unit consults on projects and provides resources to new initiatives created by the agency.
Project Responsibilities Primary tasks include assisting in researching social media inquiries, verifying information and crafting responses appropriate to different communication platforms. At times, internal coordination with Operations Planning units and external coordination with other NYCT departments and/or MTA agencies to gain input and/or information will be necessary. The incumbent will pull reports of bus and rail service issues collected from correspondence ques. Applicant will assist in creating a process and library of information that can be used to shorten response times to web-based communications as well as establish historical records. Will be expected to keep abreast of agency news and understand how it may impact our division.
Qualification Background - Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently with strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity of NYCT routes and services with willingness to learn.
- Should be familiar with New York City geography.
- Basic understanding of Statistical Analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
